‘Wales Online’ reports that Gwenda Thomas, deputy minister for children and social services, explained what the Welsh Government is doing to give children the best start in life. It has already pledged to double the number of children benefiting from the Flying Start scheme, which helps families with young children living in disadvantaged areas. Last week the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child came into force, placing a duty on Welsh ministers to “consider the rights of children in all the decisions they make”.http://tdh-childprotection.org/news/childrens-rights-to-play-part-in-policy.
