UK Nation's human trafficking victims on rise
16 Aug 2008
- The ‘Press and Journal’ reports that Amnesty International (AI) launches a report on Human Trafficking in Scotland. T*his report called “Scotland’s 21st century Slaves” points out the lack of support given by the Scottish authorities to the victims of human trafficking.* AI believes that this situation is due to the struggle with identifying victims and their vague immigration status. Kate Allen, the AI UK’s director, claims that “many victims of trafficking in Scotland are not identified because they do not fit the ‘classical model’ of trafficking”. Eventually, she urges a multi-agency approach to tackle this issue.
