Kosovo Birth rate declines evidently
29 Oct 2011 demographics
’M-Magazine’ reports that at the 60’s, there was a large increase of birth rate in Kosovo families; each couple having around 8-10 children. Today that number has dropped significantly. Young people want to have fewer children. The grave economic situation has also had a significant impact on couples. Other factors affecting the decline are late marriages, increase of divorce, great lack of health insurance, dynamics of changing the social order and psychological difficulties to adjust with it. The applicable law on maternity leave allows employees a very short leave with a very low wage.
