Bulgaria Homes for disabled children face probe over suspicious mortality rate

‘Sofia Echo’ reports that the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee alerted the General Prosecutor’s Office that child mortality in 20 institutions for disabled children has increased. At the same time it launched a legal action against the Office for refusing to investigate 75 child mortality cases between 2000 and 2008. The current investigation will review all child homes, not only the 20 in question.
