2776_leaflet_smallNovember 20, 2011, Tirana, Albania: To mark the International Day of the Rights of the Child,Terre des hommes Mission in Albania, together with various local stakeholders and with the generous support of its donors, organized a series of joint events to mark the International Day of the Rights of the Child.*

November 20 is a day to celebrate childhood. It is the anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (the CRC) in 1989. The CRC is an international document affirming human rights for all children. It has been ratified by 193 states, making it the most-ratified human rights treaty in the world.

Hosted throughout the nine regions of Albania where Tdh is implementing its “Developing a Child Protection Safety Net” project, these events promoted the importance of protecting the rights of children. In this leaflet you can read about the efforts and commitment of all children, parents, teachers and community members involved in the activities commemorating November 20th.

These events would not have been possible without the generous contributions of CPSN project donors and the dedication of our staff and local partners. Terre des hommes would like to thank UNICEF, the Austrian Development Cooperation, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC, the OAK Foundation and the Medicor Foundation. In particular, we are grateful to all partners involved, whose collaboration and invaluable support helped make November 20th a memorable day for children. [FG]
