Moldova Aged 2 to 13: six Children lost in Russia are back home

Project : Moldova 2 Jan 2010

!!Chisinau, Moldova: Just before the end of the year, six Moldovan children have been repatriated voluntarily from Russia to Moldova. The children were found without parental care in Anapa city, the Krasnodar region, Russian Federation, and they have been returned safely to their places of origin in Moldova. Three boys and three girls of ages from 2 to 13 were abandoned by their parents in an unhealthy rented flat. As most of Moldovan migrants, children’s parents came to Russia in search of a better life, but being in difficult situation, they couldn’t find a decent job. After the repatriation mission, brothers and sisters joined their biological family and will be under surveillance of the guardianship authorities from children’s place of origin in Moldova.

Nevertheless it should be highlighted, that children’s reintegration process needs more efforts and is considered an essential step towards children’s well-being. Therefore, Tdh Moldova rendered its assistance to the elaboration of an Individual Plan of Reintegration, adapted to the local conditions of the family’s living. This Individual Plan provides a long-term social reintegration of the children in the community, as well as foresees the creation of safe milieu for assuring the proper children’s development. Plan’s actions engage the participation of the children’s family, educational institutions and the community.

The repatriation mission was implemented by the Moldovan Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family in close cooperation with Russian guardianship authorities and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Russian Federation on the one hand and the Representation of the "Swiss Foundation “Terre des hommes”":http://www.tdh-childprotection.org/component/option,com_doclib/task,showdoc/docid,848 in Moldova on the other hand.
