This study undertaken in Belgium, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands by IOM Brussels, within the framework of the European Commission’s STOP Programme, was intended to learn more about this vulnerable group. The study notes that initial difficulty lies in determining the scope of the problem. While each of the 4 countries has noticed an increase in UAM (Unaccompanied Minors) cases, a number of barriers to data collection exist.
