Comment: According to Caritas Italiana's report 'Romana: Immigrazione e lavoro in Italia. Statistiche, problemi e prospettive' about 4000 Romanian children were arrested last year, in Italy. These figures show that a third of foreign minors arrested within the country were Romanians. A large majority were 'gypsy girls' charged with burglary. Moreover, the report claims that around 2000 Romanian children, gypsies for the most part of them, were abandonned, were wandering in the streets or even were sold by their parents.
