European Union Asylum Policy

Since some years the European Commission has been preparing a common European Asylum System . In June 2007, the Commission presented a Green Paper on the future Common European Asylum System . Following this paper and various consultation meetings between the Commission and Civil Society Organisations, TDHIF issued a written recommendation paper focusing on children in asylum procedures, in order to improve their situation entering the European Union .

With this collaboration, based on the TDH field expertise and experience on child migration, children in asylum procedures and exploitative forms of child migration like trafficking, TDHIF is trying to influence the EC towards an asylum policy in which the best interest of the child is always the first priority and the most important preoccupation .
