Terre des hommes - Child Relief launched in mid 2005 the Regional Child Protection Project (RCPP) for South Eastern Europe. At the end of the pilot phase, in January 2007, Tdh decided to concentrate the efforts of the RCPP to contribute to the common goal: children in migration are better protected against exploitation.

A – The functionality of the RCPP is divided in four axes:
1. Research & Development,
2. Support to national advocacy in Tdh's countries of intervention,
3. Sensitization & mobilization at the European level,
4. Methodology & information management.

B – The four issues on which RCPP concentrates its efforts are:
a. Child Protection Mechanisms as a mean of prevention from exploitation and trafficking
b. Return
c. Detention
d. Disappearance

C – The objective of the Regional Child Protection Project is to enhance the expertise in the four areas of concern and to promote positive changes of policies and practices at regional and national levels.

Such policies should provide for a durable solution in conformity with the child's best interest. For more details on Terre des hommes position on durable solution for Foreign Unaccompanied minors, please read Tdh Policy Paper on Return of Foreign Unaccompanied Minors .
