Comment: 'AIS Moldpres' reports that in Moldova several ministries have signed an agreement with the UN Population Fund and two districts for the setup of an integrated information system regarding family violence. At present data on family violence differ as they are collected from different ministries and the final figures are two to four times higher compared with the real situation and do not reflect the existing situation. Within the project four centers will be created in Ciuciuleni, Hincesti and Chisinau in order to protect victims of family abuse.

Patricia Kopatchinskaja, famous violinist and ambassador of Terre des Hommes - Moldova, gathered the voices of 2'000 children at risk, beneficiaries of the FACT project at the Menuhin Festival in Switzerland (see here the program of the festval).
Alongside Europe's most brilliant classical artists, Patricia performed at the Menuhin Festival in the Swiss Alpine resort of Gstaad, knowing that the music has the power to bring people together through expressing solidarity to the hopeless.
Along the Festival, 3'500 children from around the world were mobilized
by Tdh in a music action of solidarity, offering a stage for wonderful
and inspired instrumental music. The event was an opportunity for
children to be heard and to promote their messages towards supporting
their peers at risk, especially ill-treated children and those living
on streets. "There are a ot of children in my country of origin,
Moldova, that do not attend school as they have to work in the filed,
or they are victims of trafficking, while Tdh provides a new
perspective. I support this music action and hope that you also support
children to find a better life", mentioned Patricia. Write Comment |

Comment : According to the Moldovan News Agency 'AIS moldpres', the Moldovan President chaired a meeting on June 30th of the Supreme Security Council on two issues, one being the fight against human trafficking. Participants presented data showing serious gaps in the Ministry of Interior's Centre Combating Human Trafficking's activities. Furthermore allegations were made that the Centre's employees accepted bribes in exchange for trafficking services. According to reports, 20% of the money extorted by traffickers of illegal migrants was passed to employees of the Centre . Also, tourism agencies facilitate the trafficking of Moldovans abroad. The president, Mr. Voronin asked bodies in charge of the issue to quickly adopt a comprehensive plan of measures which would lead to concrete results. He concluded that the issue of human trafficking is of utmost importance for ensuring the interests and security of Moldovan citizens, but, he said, it is also a question of prestige, of Moldova s image.
