| Abstract | Terre des hommes – child relief (Tdh) has its roots firmly laid in actions to benefit the most severely disadvantaged, whereas many other NGOs are now moving away from the field. Terre des hommes gives practical help and relays the voices of the kids from the slums to the authorities responsible, as well as at an international level. Our advocacy draws its knowhow from experience in bringing relief under difficult real-life conditions. It is built up with the participation of the youngsters concerned. In 2007, Terre des hommes renewed its humanitarian engagement in view of worldwide crises. We brought help to families from Iraq who fled to Syria, to the survivors of the Peruvian earthquake, to people hit by the cyclone which devastated Bangladesh. In every situation we aim to take into account our experience (positive and negative) from previous actions, and to apply best practices at all times – so as to respond to the very real needs of the children and their families. | |
